Sandbridge

We trying to continue to learn fun new places to see in Virginia Beach. With my new job at Aachren Pest Control I went to some appointments with a co-worker, Kelly, and she told me about some nice places to visit plus some cool things in the area. One of these places is called Sandbridge Beach. The distance is nearly the same as going to the oceanfront so we gave it a shot. Along the way there were a lot of local produce stands and even a few Ma & Pop seafood restaurants. We didn't try either of these out, but it is good to keep in mind when we feel rich and adventurous. Unlike the Oceanfront which is lined with tall hotels and beach stores, Sandbridge is lined with beach homes for people to rent out for a few weeks. One of these renters
caused us a bit of a problem which involved a garbage can out in the 2 lane road and the loss of our sideview mirror, but we tried not to let that little mishap ruin our fun at the beach.

Sandbridge was fun because the waves were actually existent. There were many instances which I was caught surprised by the wave, or the power of the wave and was swept off my feet and pushed ashore. Justin, however, was a lot more tactical about it and would 'ride' the waves till it washed him up on shore. He would even 'target' people standing on the edge of the ocean so we could wash up at their feet. (Silly man). The drawbacks to Sandbridge: smells a bit more fishy than the Oceanfront; you can't rent any large shade tents or umbrellas; not as much extra stuff like shops or restaurants nearby. Positives: not really deep, but has good size waves; we saw dolphins off the coast; discounted parking for Virginia Beach residents ($2). I think this one is in the running, but we still got to check out a place called "Chicks" beach. (We're a little hesitant because of the worry as to what we will find when we get there:)
